I think the correct answer is B, because to enable Wireless management it would have to connect before via Wired…

You are about to use a hotel’s guest wireless services using a wireless laptop. Which three items do you need
to establish a wireless connection? (Choose three.)
    A. SSID name
    B. RF channel
    C. RF signal
    D. 802.1X/EAP credentials
    E. pre-shared key
    F. web page
    G. WPA/WPA2 settings
    What is your comments?_

  4. tintin

    @guardian, I would say A, E, G.

  5. tintin
    June 5th, 2017

@guardian, in all the dumps, it is showing a, c, f as correct answers. But my understanding of this question is, it is asking for what are the things that we need to configure in the client side to connect to the hotel wifi. RF signal is not something that we need to configure in the client device, nor we do configure a “webpage” for connecting to wifi. Just for the sake of this question, if we think of a windows laptop for example, then 3 most likely things we need to select before connecting to wifi will be SSID, WPA/WPA2 and a preshared key.

    From the dump,
Which encryption algorithm does WPA use?
    A. RC4
    B. DES
    C. AES
    D. DH5
    Correct Answer: A
It should be wrong since WPA uses TKIP or AES
I think the answer is C. Any comment?

  8. tintin

Which three items do you need to establish a wireless connection to an enterprise wireless network? (Choose
    three.)
    A. SSID name
    B. RF channel
    C. RF signal
    D. 802.1X/EAP credentials
    E. pre-shared key
    F. web page
    G. WPA/WPA2 settings
As per dump, a c d correct answer. Could someone please explain why?

  10. guardian
    June 5th, 2017

    @tintin
I think that the question didn’t ask the configuration we need, It simply asks for Which three items do you need
    to establish a wireless connection?
We need RF signal ok. C
We need SSID name ok A
In chapter 16 of OCG it uses open authentication so D, E and G is wrong.
The rest are B and F . For web authention we need a web page to let authentication process begin.
So A, C and F seems to be right choices.

WPA uses TKIP, which uses RC4 128-bit encryption.

    TKIP (Temporal Key Integrity Protocol)
The RC4 stream cipher is used with a 128-bit per-packet key, meaning that it dynamically generates a new key for each packet. Used by WPA.

  12. guardian
    June 5th, 2017

    @Logan
OCG says that at pg 343
Also notice that WPA can support either TKIP or AES for its data privacy and integrity,
    while WPA2 supports only AES.

    It is really confusing.

Another question in 411q dump I want to discuss is,
    QUESTION 340
When using multiple SSIDs on a lightweight AP, how does the traffic of each SSID reach the 802.3 network?
    A. provide routing between them at the core so that the SSIDs can reach the internet
    B. configure 802.11q trunking on the Ethernet switch port that is connected to the AP
    C. configure ACLs at the switch port that will allow all desired SSIDs to pass traffic
    D. configure the SSIDs on the WLC and it will regulate the trafficbased on traffic type
    Correct Answer: B
For LWAP trafic for each SSID must go toı WLC and then go to wired network. So LWAP use an access port to reach WLC via CAPWAP tunnel. So B is for automous AP not for LWAP

Below question is related to question we discuss, the correct answer is B. So WPA can use both TKIP and AES.
    QUESTION 359
What encryption standards describe WPA and WPA2?
    A. WPA mandates AES with TKIP optional, WPA2 mandates TKIP
    B. WPA mandates TKIP with AES optional, WPA2 mandates AES
    C. WPA mandates CKIP, WPA2 mandates AES
    D. WPA mandates CKIP with AES optimal, WPA2 mandates AES

    @guardian

    Question 340:
You are correct that the answer is wrong the way it is written. The answer should be D if we are talking about a LAP and B if it is autonomous.

    Question 359:
Logan is correct. While WPA does support AES as an option, it was designed with TKIP (RC4) in mind. AES had just recently been out when WPA arrived. From what I can gather, cards back then that supported WPA did not support AES an an option until later.

    C. local AP
    D. monitor AP
    E. rogue detector AP
    F. sniffer AP
    G. SE-Connect AP
    H. Cisco WLC

This is confusing for me as well. It is said that the answer is C using “none” username, but on the explanation, it is said that the default username is “cisco”.

    QUESTION 98
Which two items are needed to discover the IP address of a new Cisco Aironet 1260 autonomous AP that just finished booting? (Choose two.)

    A. username = “cisco” and password = “cisco”
    B. username = “Admin” and password = “Cisco”
    C. username = none and password = “Cisco”
    D. show int vlan1
    E. show int bvi1
    F. show int gigabitethernet0
    G. show int radio0-802.11n
    H. show int radio1-802.11n

    Answer: CE
    Explanation:
Enter your username in the User Name field. The default username is Cisco. Enter the wireless device password in the Password field and press Enter. The default password is Cisco. The Summary Status page appears. The access point is configured with the factory default values including the IP address (set to receive an IP address using DHCP). To obtain the new IP address for an access point/bridge, you can use the show interface bvi1 CLI command.

Post #19: The only reason I can think of H being incorrect is because most people will do an Etherchannel on the controller management ports, and maybe they consider a port-channel trunk different than a regular trunk? I think there is another question I’ve seen somewhere dealing with which device/channel pairs are correct, and the one with the WLC/trunk is said not to be a correct answer, but WLC/port-channel trunk is supposedly correct.

Post #21: It’s a poorly worded question, but I would choose B. “Security parameters” are not necessary if the WLAN is open or webauth.

  40. tintin
    June 7th, 2017

@Foxx, you are a legend. Your explanation makes perfect sense to me.
    What is fading?
    A. Another signal source is producing energy on the channel in which you are trying to operate.
    B. The desired signal reaches the receiving antenna via multiple paths, each of which has a
different propagation delay and path loss.
    C. A time-varying change in the path loss of a link with the time variance governed by the movement of objects in the environment, including the transmitter and receiver themselves.
    D. A function of the frequency and should be provided in the cable specification by the vendor.
    E. The minimum signal level for the receiver to be able to acceptably decode the information.
    F. The time delay from the reception of the first instance of the signal until the last instance.

Do you understand why the correct answer is C instead of B? Transmitter and receiver should be static, not time varying and therefore not contributing to multipath fading. B looks more correct to me.

Which type of management tasks can be completed on a Cisco WLC remotely from a wireless client?
    A. All management and configuration tasks can be performed from a wireless client except for using debug commands.
    B. In the default configuration, no management or configuration is possible through the GUI or CLI on the Cisco WLC.
    C. The default configuration of the Cisco WLC allows only CLI access and then only the use of show commands, so no configuration is possible.
    D. All management and configuration tasks, except uploads from and downloads to the Cisco WLC,

Does anyone know the correct answer to this question. I felt D to be correct, but according to 411q B is right.

  42. guardian
    June 7th, 2017

    @tintin
about the post #37 The answer should be C. B explains what is multipath. Fading is variation of path loss in a single path.

  43. guardian
    June 7th, 2017

@tintin for the post #38 I think that is another poorly worded question. If the question ask for the management of WLC from a wireless clint, the correct answer is B because in default no configuration is posssible, later you can enable the checkbox enable management from wireless. Even if you enable management from wireless, uoloding the code from WLC is not allowed but the configuratipon upload/doenload is stil possible.

I am looking forward to someone explaining why C is the right answer instead of A.

  50. Foxx
    June 7th, 2017

    @tintin
I’ve looked around Cisco’s site and through the official cert guide before about the fading question and never came up with an official Cisco answer. Wikipedia says it is, “variation of the attenuation of a signal with various variables,” which leads me to choose C.

On #34, there’s a FAQ on Cisco’s site that says the default username/password is Cisco/Cisco, but on Keith Barker’s video it shows him using no username and the password of Cisco. I don’t have an autonomous AP to test at the moment. From the choices given, A is wrong (default pw isn’t all lowercase on an AP), and there is no “Admin” user on an AP. That leaves us with C.
