Just passed 200-355 WIFUND (CCNA Wireless)
Scored 888. Passing is 860.

I was a little nervous near the end. After the last question I figured I had about a 50/50 chance of passing. Luckily I can take a break from studying now.

I’m a CCNP R&S, CCDP, and CCNA Security. Compared to these tests it was on the easier end, but that could have a lot to do with the fact that I’ve been working with wireless every day for the past year at my job.

Do not rely only on the book like I did. If not for my real-world experience I would not have passed with book knowledge alone. I think the book was well written, but it probably only got me about 25% of the questions. I also started Lazaro Diaz’s course on Udemy because it was only a few bucks. I do not recommend that one; completely useless.

Some general advice: Know your AP modes (monitor, local, etc.) like the back of your hand. I thought I knew these pretty well but I got stumped on several questions, seriously memorize everything there is to know about these. Lots of dBm, dBi, and dBd math. But if you know the concepts about these 3 terms you should be able to reverse engineer any question. There were no simulations or WCS, and only 1 question on Prime, which bummed me out because I use Prime every day and was hoping for some easy points.

Overall I’m a little conflicted about how I feel on this course. As far as usefulness I think it is tremendously helpful if you deal with wireless at all in your job. It has much more applicable knowledge than say the CCNA security or CCDA. And the test did a good job in that you have to know what you’re doing to pass it. But that’s kind of the bad thing too. If I hadn’t been neck deep in wireless last year for work I don’t think any amount of studying could have helped me pass this. There were many questions that you either have to memorize pages of hardware information, or happen to have actually installed said hardware and know the gist.

So this means that it does a good job at assessing a journeyman wireless tech, but would be very difficult for someone trying to break into wireless at an entry level. That’s my two cents, this has gone on long enough so I’ll answer any questions ya’ll have.
